It is extremely important to maintain high levels of vitamins in your body, but doing so isn’t very easy. A lot of people find that taking a multivitamin tablet helps them to stay healthy and reduces tiredness, while also giving a boost to their immune system. There are some really great multivitamins out there, but sadly there are some that aren’t doing any good and are simply a waste of money. To see if your multivitamin is worth the money you are paying for it, simply place it in a glass of room temperature water and wait to see how long it takes to dissolve. If the tablet takes more than half an hour, stop taking it – all the tablet is doing inside you is sitting in your stomach waiting to pass through your digestive system, rather than giving you any nutritional benefit.
Vitamin D is a vitamin that helps your bones to remain healthy and generally helps your mood. It is one of the hardest vitamins to obtain in everyday life, as it comes from the skin being exposed to sunlight (D3). In the modern world, too many of us spend time indoors when we are at work, and rarely get exposed to sunshine during the week. The only way to keep your level of Vitamin D3 high is to get some sun, or else make an effort to eat foods that are high in the vitamin such as salmon.
Rather than taking multivitamins that may not be working, you should get down to a local health store and pick up specific individual vitamins that you may be lacking in your diet. This is especially helpful for those who do not eat meat, as they can find they are lacking in iron and Vitamin B. Although it can seem like a pain to have to take multiple individual tablets or capsules, in the end they are probably going to have a greater effect on your life. Keep track of the vitamins that you are lacking in your diet, and make sure that you are balancing your intake.
In all honesty, overdosing on vitamins is unlikely to cause much harm to your body, but rather the body will simply expel the vitamins in your urine. Even so, there are some vitamins that will do things to your body that are unpleasant if you overdose, so make sure that you are not taking over the recommended daily intake. Extremely high doses of Vitamin E, for example, can cause blood clots and increase your likelihood of hemorrhage.
