Winter Exercise: How To Make Cold Weather Exercise Fun

You don’t have to let the cold weather stop you from getting up and burning off those holiday calories. There are many ways you can make cold weather exercise fun and still get a great sweat going. Below are some tips that will help you have fun while exercising during the winter months.

Play Outside
Exercise is not supposed to be something that is only tedious and dreadful. It is supposed to be fun. You can burn hundreds of calories per hour by playing outside. Making snow angels, having snowball fights, and ice skating are some fun ways you can get your heart rate up and burn calories.
It is estimated that you can burn 219 calories per hour by making snow angels. You can burn approximately 319 calories per hour by having a snowball fight. Building a snowman can help you burn approximately 285 calories.
If there is no snow in your area, then you may want to consider ice skating. Ice skating is a fun activity that can be done indoors or outdoors. You’ll probably use some muscles skating you haven’t used in a while.

Try A New Activity
Exercise may become pretty boring after a while. This is especially true if you do not change up your routine. The winter is a great time to try some new activities. For example, if you have always wanted to try a winter sport, then you may want to ski or go snowboarding. Try the Vail resort in Colorado and get Vail snowboard rental, or Vail ski rentals ready so you can try a few different things.
Both skiing and snowboarding are vigorous winter sports. You can burn over 300 calories per hour by skiing, and you can potentially burn over 500 calories per hour by snowboarding.
You may also want to try some new indoor activities. Indoor volleyball, bootcamp classes, and spin classes are examples of fun indoor activities that are great for getting your heart rate up.

Work out with A Friend
It is very easy to skip your workouts when the weather outside is cold, which is why you may want to consider working out with a friend. If you work out with a friend, then you will have someone to hold you accountable. Your friend can also help give you the push you need to keep working out when you feel like giving up.

Set Goals
One of the best ways you can stay focused on your exercise routine is by setting goals. You set both short and long-term goals. Make sure you set a goal that you really want to attain, and will challenge you. You may also want to break one goal down into smaller ones.
It does not matter whether you have set a goal to lose a few pounds before the summer, or are training for running your first half marathon. It will be a lot easier for you to stick to your exercise routine if you set goals.

Exercising during the winter months can be a lot of fun. Playing outside and participating in a new activity are some of the ways you can get excited about exercise again. You will also have an easier time exercising in the cold weather if you set goals and work out with a friend.
