4 Simple Treatments for Neck Pain

Here’s the thing: You woke up from a superb dream, and when you turned around, you felt something painful in your neck again. You’re probably sick and tired of it because it seemed like an inevitable thing you experienced every single day. But the problem is, you don’t know a thing or two on how to take care and finally put an end to it.

Well, don’t you worry, as they say, there’s always a solution to any problem be it minor or major. In this case, neck pain is just a health condition that human beings usually experience. As a matter of fact, 8 out of 10 people have experienced neck or back pain at some time in their life. Moreover, this health condition can be just cured easily in several ways that do not require any effort to go directly to your doctor.

On the other hand, neck pain can be only classified into two kinds that are acute (short term) neck pain and the other one is chronic (long-term) neck pain. These two types of neck pain are somehow similar when it comes to healing the pain.

However, for those of you who have chronic neck pain, if the pain remains after doing your best to follow strictly the basic home remedies. Then it’s the perfect time for you to consult your neck pain specialist. Especially if the weakness increases in your arms, legs, buttocks and if it’s already accompanied with chest pain or has shown any signs of heart attack.

But with those who only experience acute neck pain, these are the essential things that you need to do before it will lead to much longer pain:

  1. Ice or Heat Pack

Once you are already aware that you have a neck pain, then go get directly an ice or heat pack and put it to your neck for at least 15-20 minutes for every 2 or 3 hours. It is just up to you of what you prefer most and sometimes it depends on the current weather. If it is cold outside, then use the heat pack and if it’s hot then use the ice.

Aside from that, both of these can ease up the pain and only differs in function. By using ice, it slows down the swelling and inflammation but the effect loses after 48 hours and by using heat, it helps increase the blood flow and relaxes the muscles spasms.

  1. Massage

If you’re the type of person who loves the feeling of relaxation that the massage gives then why not resort directly to this treatment once you realize that you have a neck pain. Through this treatment, it helps stretch tight muscles and ligaments.

  1. Stretch

As much as possible, do a lot of stretching or strengthening exercises just to keep the muscles in your neck flexible and firm and to also prevent stiffness.

  1. Move, Move, Move

It is not advisable to just lay down and do nothing. Study shows that doing just at least little movements of muscles and joints is much more efficient than to let yourself rest and depend heavily on taking medications.

Those are the things that you need to remember if you have a neck pain. But as always, never hesitate to call a doctor if you can’t bear the pain any longer.
