13 Surprising Ways of Weight Loss You Should Know


Weight loss is a journey that most people dread. It is often displayed as a very hectic journey that involves lots of workouts and eating too much of the food that most people dislike. The thought of eating vegetables and fruits all day can make almost anyone crave for those fried foods and milkshakes. The good news is; weight loss is nothing like the way it’s often depicted. It can be a fun lifestyle change with lots of health benefits. You don’t have to go the old-fashioned way to lose weight as there are many other ways that can help you lose as much weight as you want but will little or no stress. They include:

1. Enough Sleep Is Key

According to research, those people who do not get enough sleep tend to gain weight as compared to those who do. Getting enough sleep may not reduce your weight but will prevent you from gaining more weight. Six to eight hours of sleep will do just fine.

2. Drink Enough Water

Drinking enough water ensures the toxins in the body are removed, which might be causing weight gain. It will also make you feel full preventing any urge to eat unnecessary food. Eight glasses of water per day are the commonly advised portion, but for me I will ask you to take enough water and ensure to eat foods that have water in them such as watermelons.

3. Carry Your Lunch With You

This ensures that you eat a healthy meal as you packed rather than depending on the food you will buy from the canteen. It will also minimize the likelihood of you eating unnecessary snacks in the office thus saving you some dollars.

4. Brush Your Teeth After Every Meal

This will make you fight the urge of wanting to eat some more food or snack. Brushing teeth is a clever way of cheating your body that there won’t be any more eating around that time. I also heard it can give a whiter smile which translates to a more beautiful smile.

5. The Blue Belief

According to research, the color blue is known to reduce appetite. So if you are the kind that can resist the urge to continue eating, ensure to serve your food on a blue plate. Your appetite will disappear in no time.

6. If you are full, stop eating

You don’t need to struggle to clear your plate even after you are full. Leave some food on the plate. Alternatively, you can opt always to serve yourself to ensure you put as much food as is sufficient for your body. This helps prevent overeating.

7. Keep track of your diet

This will help you determine how many calories you are consuming and how healthy the food you are eating is. Thus, it will help identify unhealthy eating habits and eliminate them. With such, your weight loss journey will be easier.

8. Partner in Crime

Journeys are easier when walked as a pair or group. Even in the journey of weight loss, you are advised to have a partner. This will be someone you can run with, jog with and have those meals that you think aren’t sweet with.  He/ she will act as a support system when you feel you just can’t go on. They will help you keep track of your weight loss program and ensure you are following every bit of it.

9. Eat Your Food With the Company of a  Mirror

According to a study by the Arizona State University, people hate seeing themselves overeat.  You will thus curb the urge to eat a little bit more than you require when you eat staring at your reflection.

10. Switch Of The Lights Before Sleeping

According to a study by the American Journal of Epidemiology, people who sleep in lit rooms are more likely to be overweight than those who sleep in dark rooms. This may be because light disrupts the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for regulating sleep and controlling metabolism.

11. Use Cash When Making Foods Payment

You have struggled for that money by even working overtime. You don’t want to see it get wasted. When you go to the store with cash instead of credit cards, the temptation to buy unnecessary foodstuffs such as chocolates, ice-creams, and other junk foods will be decreased by seeing the bill. This will prevent you from gaining access to these unhealthy foods.

12. Walk or Cycle to Work

You don’t have to hit the gym for you to lose weight. You can do simple activities that will make you burn as many calories as you would in the gym. Tasks such as walking or cycling to your workplace will be more effective and less tiring than lifting weights in the gym.

13. Eat Proteins

The notion that proteins cause one to gain weight is simply a myth. The truth is, eating proteins leave you full for a long time thus you eat less, and also you burn more calories when processing them.  Thus, they are excellent as a weight loss remedy.
